The two-part work Prayong (Aglaia odorata): Dedicated to my Father includes a performative installation situated on the gallery balcony and a single-channel video of silent portraits screened in the main space. A scaffold erected on the balcony sets the stage for a series of durational performances scheduled through the exhibition period. It switches between being a functional piece of supporting structure and an aesthetic object; allowing performers to climb during the performance and left empty otherwise. The performers are migrant workers who have been interviewed and filmed by the artist for the video in Prayong (Aglaia odorata): Dedicated to my Father. They are instructed by a choreographer to perform specific movements. The balcony thus becomes a place of transition in which the scaffold and the performers activate each other in their co-existence; the workers are transformed into performers upon entering the scaffold, and by leaving the structure transforms it into a beautiful object in its own right.
