"Image", not "Painting"
Painting constitutes the art system devised by SHI Qing. His paintings refer explicitly to the primal attribution of an image, i.e., its indicativeness. Moreover, they function as an objective portrait of communal experience and memory rather than a subjective voice given by the artist of his own system. These images stem from the ancestries found in archaeology, geography and phytology as well as other branches in natural science, echoing the artist's study and practice related to the boundary of art and its communality.
