Introduction
Li Qinyang was born in Jinan, Shandong Province in 1998. She graduated from the Printmaking Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2021 and received her Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art in the UK in 2024. She currently lives and works between Shanghai and London. Her practice encompasses mixed-media installation, printmaking, and drawing, with a focus on the tension between images, everyday objects, and emotional experience. Through patterns, archival imagery, and the reconfiguration of found objects, she engages in a process of medium translation between the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional, enabling materials to shift between their physical properties and psychological connotations. Her work seeks to gently respond to the non-linear workings of memory, bringing together different temporal layers and emotional structures within the same space, thereby revealing the coexistence of tranquility and latent violence.
