Introduction
Yin Yunya (b. 1990, Sichuan, China) graduated from Beijing Film Academy and holds an MA from the University of the Arts London. Her practice explores how vitality emerges through paradox and contradiction. Her approach is based on personal experience, treats entities as “words,” investigating a shared language between nature and humans. Rooted in contemporary contexts, her conceptual approach brings together artistic and literary traditions, material exploration, and metaphysical inquiry, tracing the relationships between the external world and inner perception. Working across photography, performance, video, and interactive installation, she often engages ecological materials, emphasizing minimal environmental impact. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at Art Basel, Paris Photo, and various biennales. She has also participated in international residency programs supported by organizations such as the Deauville Festival, the German-Chinese Cultural Exchange Foundation, and the British Council., her works have been collected by various art museums and foundations.
