Try to Remember a Tree is a series of works by Robert Zhao Renhui that takes the tree as its central motif. Since the beginning of his artistic practice, trees have consistently appeared throughout his work, whether as the primary subject of investigation or as the broader backdrop against which he examines the ecologies of plants and animals. In Zhao's representations, trees become witnesses to time and vessels of memory.
This exhibition presents a selection of works from the series, offering an overview of how Zhao, through sustained observation and long-term documentation, reveals the continually evolving relationship between humans and trees.
