When fireflies faint glow traces paths within the camera obscura, when fruit and vegetables decay crystallises into temporal imprints upon photographic plates, when insect specimens erupt with invisible phosphorescence under intense heat—Jiang Pengyi, through his three series Dark Addiction, Foresight, and The Lingering, Jiang Pengyi has spent twelve years constructing “The Bios Theatre” at XY GALLERY that transcends life forms. A predetermined script has not been created, nor has a singular protagonist been decided upon. Only the states of existence revealed through the interaction of living and non-living matter, collectively enacting the processes of emergence, transformation, and metamorphosis.
