ShanghART grounds its presentation in the sense of locality advocated by ART021 SPIN, with a particular focus on three artists from the Sichuan–Chongqing region: Jiang Xiaoyu, Xiao Kegang, and Yin Yunya. Having emerged from the cultural and social terrain of Sichuan and Chongqing, these artists engage, through distinct media and visual languages, with the vital energies embedded within this region. Approaching their practices from the respective dimensions of the body, materiality, and philosophical inquiry, their trajectories diverge, yet collectively articulate the manifold possibilities through which regional rootedness can be reconfigured within contemporary artistic expression.
