Star Gallery is proud to announce the opening of the exhibition "SEX AND BOY" on Friday, April 17th. The exhibition features artists Wang Xingwei, Wang Yifan, Wen Ling, Xiong Jiaxiang, Yin Hang, and Zhao Bandi, and is curated by Dongmen Yang.
What is presented here is not an overflow of hormonal masculinity, but rather a cautious, introspective, and emotional reflection. With a reversed gaze, the artists provide a rich internal realization of the male physical experience, while simultaneously laying out a series of visual specimens for the female gaze. Stepping into the exhibition hall feels like entering a scene from Greek mythology; we seem to see Narcissus leaning over the shore, captivated by his own reflection on the water's surface. As Leon Battista Alberti stated in On Painting, art originates from this impulsive, headlong embrace of one's reflection. As the body sinks, the reflection vanishes, and a cluster of narcissus flowers blooms by the pond. This sexy Greek youth has turned his very life into a work of art.
