Black Diamond was initiated in 2008, in the aftermath of the global financial crisis. It emerged within a world increasingly shaped by the entanglement of ideological polarization, knowledge production, and new media technologies amid accelerating globalization. The series explores whether visual thinking can help one orient oneself existentially within a reality of growing complexity.

Black Diamond takes the crystallization of diamond as its central metaphor: loose carbon undergoing structural transformation under extreme heat and pressure to become one of the hardest substances on Earth. Working primarily with charcoal, the works conceptually juxtapose carbon and diamond—two radically different manifestations of the same element. From an existential perspective, Black Diamond re-examines the ever-expanding informational landscapes produced through global systems of value production, transforming otherwise impenetrable complexity into perceptible fields of energy.
