Introduction
Jing Shijian was born in Heishan County, Liaoning Province in 1960 and graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in 1988. Current professor and doctoral supervisor at the China Academy of Art, founder of the Multidimensional Expression Painting Studio, member of the Oil Painting Art Committee of the China Artists Association, and academic member of the Beijing Contemporary Freehand Oil Painting Research Institute. The work has won the Excellence Award at the 11th National Art Exhibition and the Gold Award at the "97 China Art Exhibition".
His work does not merely reflect the superficial chaos, absurdity, and fragmentation of contemporary life, but embodies a spiritual contemplation—an inner truth that transcends “seeing is believing.” He stands as a maverick among contemporary academic artists, steadfast in painting yet striving to break through its conventions. While continuously experimenting with multi-media expression, he demonstrates exceptional painterly talent through integrated approaches. Spanning multi-media experiments and Neo-Expressionist explorations in painting, he focuses on the relationship between humanity, art, and the natural landscapes and historical-cultural contexts where art takes place. Rooted in natural scenery and employing hybrid visual language, his work explores the symbiotic relationship between nature and society, humanity and the world, revealing a transcendent realm of meaning.
