Most cordyceps I find on horsetail stems grow from flies.
I wasn't even paying much attention when I picked this one up,
assuming it was the same.
But—
no.
It wasn't.
It looked more like a tiny cricket,
holding a mushroom-shaped umbrella,
dusted with red spores.
Noted: a new host-fungus association on horsetail-
previously unrecorded in my field notes.
