“Scroll of the Bleak Autumn Wind” continues the grand spirit of traditional Shan Shui, yet reinterprets it through a contemporary lens. The scene resembles a world steeped in autumn’s chill: the earth lies silent, and the trees stand iron-like and unyielding, as though bracing against a soundless wind. Layers of ink accumulate like the stillness that time leaves behind. The forms of the trees do not come from direct sketching of actual forests, but from the artist’s selection of satellite imagery whose natural features resemble the trees found in classical Chinese landscape painting.
