The work takes a wrought-iron protective window as its structural basis, over which is lays a sheet of semi-transparent latex printed with the image of a curtain. The soft, translucent material and the printed image together form a “curtain,” on which the image of a damp hand appears as if gently lifting it. Here, image and object overlap, rendering the “curtain” both a surface that conceals space and an interface about to be opened. This seemingly minor gesture suggests a mode of entry and peeking. As an introduction to the exhibition, the work establishes a point of departure at the entrance to the space, positioning the viewer to step into a gradually unfolding interior world through the imagined act of drawing aside a curtain.
