This video appears to be an ordinary news broadcast. Yet we soon notice the news presenters facing the camera in uncharacteristically silence. They don’t say a word, waiting quietly and with mildly anxiously, as if there is no news today.
In 2021, amid the outbreak of the COVID pandemic, Song Ziwei felt exhausted by the endless stream of daily news. Nothing New Today imagines and constructs a situation where nothing happens--by collecting and editing online news material.
There is “nothing new under the sun” --not because everything had been discovered, but because everything will be forgotten.
